Research Fund

AOLA is proud to announce the establishment of a Research Fund, created to provide the industry an opportunity to react quickly in order to document trends and phenomena they may encounter while fishing.  Initially, the fund will sponsor certified observers who will go on board fishing vessels to provide impartial, scientific confirmation of fishermen's observations. A newly created committee within AOLA will determine research priorities; and responsibly allocate funding accordingly. Presently our plan is to document juvenile lobsters offshore. Offshore fishermen, if you encounter lobsters 1-2 inches carapace length (30-55 mm) or notice other interesting phenomena offshore, please contact Heidi at 603-828-9342, in order for AOLA to help document your findings. Fishermen and non-fishermen alike, we hope you will contribute to help us learn more about our resource.
